Karamea Express is a family owned business which has been operating since 1985. Our staff are friendly and reliable who are focused on providing a professional transportation service.
With our various transportation services we can offer a regular shuttle service to the Kohaihai / Heaphy track from November to April and thereafter on demand. Shuttles to/from the Wangapeka track and the Karamea Leslie track are run on demand all year round.
We offer a regular bus service from Karamea to Westport which connects to other bus services, then from Westport you have the option to be dropped off either at Karamea township or the Kohaihai / Heaphy track.
Rental cars and vans are available for people to hire. This is a great way for people who are travelling in motorhomes and/or travelling without their own transport to explore the Oparara Basin (a height restriction of 2.8 metres is in place at the start of McCallums Mill Road which takes you to the limestone arches) and surrounding Karamea area.
We have a small freight service to and from Karamea to Westport which connects to other freight/courier services.
There is also an on demand taxi service – options for same day service to Nelson, Golden Bay, Motueka, Westport, Punakaiki and Greymouth. Advanced bookings are essential for this service.
